Vasa Museum reopens 15 July

17 June 2020

On Wednesday 15 July the Vasa Museum opens again with extra precautions in place to protect the public.

Visitors to the museum will still be able to get close to the Vasa while maintaining a safe distance from each other.

Jenny Lind, Deputy Head of the Museum, said: “It’s wonderful to be able to welcome visitors again after being closed for over three months. We’re taking all necessary precautions to keep people safe and secure during their visit.”

The Vasa Museum has reviewed its premises and taken numerous measures to minimise the risk of infection. Visitors will be reminded to follow the rules on social distancing with the help of museum staff, floor markings and signs.

The number of visitors allowed into the museum will be restricted and small spaces closed off. Seats will be limited in the movie theatre and half of the tables in the lunchroom have been removed. Cleaning will take place more frequently and hand sanitiser will be provided in the toilets.

From 15 July to 31 August, the Vasa Museum and museum shop will be open on weekdays between 10:00 and 17:00. The Vasa Museum restaurant will be open on weekdays between 11:00 and 16:00.

All guided tours are on hold for the time being, but Vasa Museum guides will be available for questions.

“Although our visitors must keep a safe distance from each other, it is possible to get close to the ship itself,” Lind said. “I would encourage them to make the most of their visit with our audio guide, which they can listen to on their smartphones.”

Visitors can also explore the Vasa Museum on our website and social media channels.
